What you should know is that Amazon uses the .azw ebook format for the security of ebooks. That means that the Kindle cannot read ebooks in another format like the .epub format. Nook and Sony use the .epub format and the advantage is that you are able to read library books as well. If you live in The netherlands for example you cannot download dutch ebooks because they are in .epub format. This is a one of the disadvantages of the Kindle.
